On Friday 21st February 2025 we welcomed the Edinburgh-based actor and theatre maker Patrycja Zajac (Pat) to perform her one-woman play ‘Whispers’ in Sharmanka. The play, written by Pat with Kate Diuk and directed by Kate Diuk, tells the story of a woman in Victorian England whose sad trajectory leads her from abusive relationship to incarceration in an asylum. The play was performed with the help of a few props from a trunk, a sophisticated sound design and some beautiful lighting changes. Pat is bilingual and has performed versions of the play in Polish and in English in venues throughout Europe. Pat’s intense and emotional performance worked brilliantly within the restricted space of the gallery, surrounded by Eduard Bersudsky’s dreamlike artworks. – SHARMANKA KINETIC THEATRE, Glasgow, Scotland
